Style Imitating Art: Mada Primavesi by Gustav Klimt

As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to Style Imitating Art. I hope your visit means you’re planning to join us, because we’d definitely love to have you…

ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. And that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

THE CURATOR

This week’s image was chosen by me.

INSPIRATION ART WORK

Mada Primavesi by Gustav Klimt

I chose this image because I like the attitude. The girl’s face and stance are defiant but the dress and background are, I don’t know, sweet and innocent. I think this is kind of a mood: I may look sweet but don’t try me.

MY OUTFIT

When I picked this image, I knew I was going to wear this top. I mean, how could I not? The colors, the floral embroidery, the lace details, everything about it is a nod to the picture. Even the A line shape of my top mimics the shape of the little girl’s dress. For a hot minute, I thought about wearing a pair of white jeans to keep the whole look going, but that just would’ve been a little too matchy-matchy for me. And since I was running errands, I figured a pair of denim jeggings would keep things streamlined on the bottom.
