As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to Style Imitating Art. I hope all is well with you and that you’re having a stylish 2021 so far. Things are going well over here… I’ve started a new book. It’s called The Street by Ann Petry. I’m only a chapter or so in, but I’m I can tell this is going to be a good read. Stay tuned for my review when I’m finished.

ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

THE CURATOR

This week’s art was chosen by Salazar.

INSPIRATION ART WORK

“Nebra Sky Disc”

The Nebra Sky Disc is a disk dating back from the Bronze Age (or possibly the Iron Age), featuring the oldest depiction of the cosmos in the world. Its name comes from the town in which it was found: Nebra, Germany. You can find out more about the Nebra Sky Disc here.

Salazar picked the disc because “…been quite interested in the cosmos motif in clothes and jewelry lately, and the colors (blue-green and gold) are beautiful too.”

MY OUTFIT

How very cool is that inspiration piece chosen by Salazar? That disc dates from THE. BRONZE. AGE. The colors are so beautiful and vibrant, much like the top that I’m wearing. Full disclosure: I wore this outfit before Salazar chose this piece and saved it in my outfit stash. You can see my morning coffee post here. I’m a big fan of Lori Goldstein’s clothes – her use of color and pattern are just fun. Her clothes can be a bit pricey, so I generally wait for them to go on sale and then I pick up a piece or two. They’re fun to layer over my lace extenders and under my cardigans. The jeans are new finds from an online boutique I found out about a few weeks ago: Tee for the Soul.
