Black Floral Dress Black Tights and Brown Sandals {living outside the stacks} #StyleImitatingArt

Welcome to another week of Style Imitating Art, where we draw our style inspiration from works of art. Style Imitating Art {aka SIA} is hosted by Jen {Librarian for Life and Style}, Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, and me. Every other Monday, one of us curates an art piece to use as style inspiration for the following week {host outfits are posted on the following Monday, with participant outfits posted on Wednesday}.

This is the roundup post, where I showcase all of the participants. Please make sure you visit their blogs and/or Instagram pages to get the details on their outfits. You can see my look here. And, while you’re there, don’t forget to leave some comment love.

INSPIRATION ART WORKPocket flask {metropolitan museum of art} public access

Pocket Flask {The MET, public domain}

The blown pattern-molded glass Pocket Flask were made in the U.S. between 1800 and 1860.

You can learn more about the Pocket Flask by clicking here.

THE CURATOR

This week’s inspiration piece was curated by me. I chose the Pocket Flask because I like the colors of the different flasks, but it was the patterns that really intrigued me. I had a friend who used to blow glass and I just remember watching her and her husband twirling the glass to shape it and it really was the coolest thing ever.

THE ROUNDUP

Bev {Confuzzled Bev}

Bev {Confuzzled Bev}

I love love the print on Bev’s outfit. I also like that “nature” is her backdrop and perfectly mimics the colors of the bottles. Please go read her post here and find out how this outfit came to be. Trust me, we’ve all been there….

Kezzie {Kezzie}

Kerenza {Kezzie}

Don’t you just love Kezzie’s dress? The color and the print, with that sweet mustard colored topper is just perfect. And, I know I say this a lot, but I want to raid Kezzie’s dress closet. You can find out the details of Kezzie’s outfit here.

Leslie {Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After}

Leslie {Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After}

I’m not sure what part of Leslie’s outfit I like more: the pattern of her top, the maxi cardigan, or the color of her pants. But I know what isn’t up for debate: her outfit is perfect for this week’s challenge.

Kim {Fierce Fashion}

Kim {Fierce Fashion}

There’s so much to love with Kim’s outfit. That necklace is a stunner, as is that bag {which pulls in all the colors of the glass flasks}. Her sandals are also a nice play on the patterns in the bottles, don’t you think?

Make sure you visit everyone so you can see more of what they wore and don’t forget to leave a comment so they know you were there.

THE CO-HOSTS

Jen {Librarian for Life and Style}

Jen’s hat, y’all. I cannot tell you how much I adore it. I also like that her scarf is a nice contrast to the colors in the flasks. So much fun. And, ummmm, yeah, those boots are perfect. You can find out Jen’s outfit details here.

Salazar {14 Shades of Gray}

Salazar Brooch {14 Shades of Gray}

Salazar’s outfit is absolutely perfect. I like how the baubles {I don’t know the technical term} in her brooch mimic the colors and shapes of the flasks. Seriously, when it comes to brooches, Salazar has an amazing selection. I also like the pale olive pants against the brown shoes. You can find out Salazar’s outfit details here.
