Style Imitating Art Floral Dress and Mustard Sandals {living outside the stacks}

Welcome to the roundup post for this week’s Style Imitating Art , where you get to see all the various interpretations of the inspiration piece.

STYLE IMITATING ART INSPIRATION

18th Century Spanish Textile from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Open Access Collection

18th Century Spanish Textile {The image is from the Metropolitan Museum of Art Open Access Collection}

I selected the inspiration piece for this round of Style Imitating Art for a couple of reasons:
  1. It’s summer and the flowers are so pretty
  2. I think I can find something between the clothes in my car and the ones in the RV
I also think the pattern is feminine without being too girly… The black lines make the image a little “tougher.” Anyway, I love the varying shades of peach, gold, green, and blue. The blacks and browns ground the soft colors.

You can read more about the textile here.

THE ROUNDUP

Jen Style Imitating Art {Librarian for Life and Style}

Jen, Librarian for Life and Style, totally channeled Royal Wedding vibes with her sweet cloche style hat and pretty orange floral dress that she wore to a wedding. And if you hop over to her blog, you can see more of her wedding guest outfit pictures {along with a surprise guest!}.

Kim Style Imitating Art {instagram kim_fiercefashion}

Kim is a new SIA participant cheers wildly and is looking to start her own style blog! While she sets up her virtual closet {aka website}, be sure to check her out on instagram: @kim_fiercefashion. I think Kim totally nailed the look between the colors and the floral pattern. And is that an animal print belt I see? Yes!!

Leslie C Style Imitating Art {Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After}

Leslie Style Imitating Art {Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After}

Here’s Leslie, Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After, with her SIA interpretation. You guys, I’m so loving Leslie’s maxi cardi, so very stylish. Her color pallet is spot on and the pattern in her top so closely mimics florals in the fabric swatch, that they almost look interchangeable. Check her out here to find out the details of her outfit and for a little behind the scenes fun.

Salazar Style Imitating Art {14 Shades of Grey}

Salazar, 14 Shades of Grey, built her outfit around the neutral tones in the fabric swatch. And while keeping everything neutral, she pumped it up with those oh-so-fab green shoes, which imitate the border in the fabric swatch. And just in case you didn’t know, Salazar has the best whimsical blouse collection ever! Find out the details of her outfit here.
