I have a problem. First step crossed. I totally dig thrifting. Second step conquered. I don’t want to stop. Third step failed. I so enjoy taking my $21 that’s my limit and going into the thrift shop and coming out with 7 skirts. Yep, it’s always skirts. Well, except last week when I found the cutest sweater that I cannot wait to show you next week. Anyway, skirts were never a part of my wardrobe until I started hitting the thrift stores, now I can’t get enough. And they’re all so fashionable. I mean they are really trendy pieces, yet oh~so~classic. I don’t know why whoever is getting rid of these skirts is but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
I felt so girly in this outfit. I’ve never really been a tweed girl but when I saw this skirt I simply had to have it. I like it with the cream turtle neck, but I think I could wear it with just about any color sweater and it’d work. Add a denim jacket and it’d be all kinds of funky.
The one accessory I’m still trying to get used to wearing is a belt. When I look in the mirror, I feel like it’s not doing much for me but when I see myself in pictures, I can see the waist definition. And that’s where I need the most help.
Can you believe I found that skirt at Goodwill? How cute is it? That bottom ruffle is everything, right? And those tights are from Dollar General! They’re actually sweater leggings. So warm and cozy.
What have you added to your wardrobe this year that you never thought you’d wear?
Oh my word, these past two weeks have been crazy busy. It started with a 12 hour day last week and then a split shift yesterday. This would be fine if I worked in a hospital or something along those lines but I work in a library. A library! But I promised myself when I got this job that I wouldn’t complain, there are people out there who are looking for employment… Besides, I really like what I do. That being said, I’m seriously looking forward to Christmas break. I plan to do nothing.
What I Wore Friday
I did have Friday off, and I totally needed it.The hubs and I agreed to host a men’s breakfast and ladies’ ornament exchange at our house on Saturday morning. What were we thinking? So I spent most of Friday cleaning the house, grocery shopping and running all sorts of other errands.
Lemme tell ya, preparing your house for an unknown number of visitors is no easy feat. I felt incredibly overwhelmed. By Saturday morning I was a nervous wreck. So the hubs stepped up and did all the cooking. I got to sit back and look cute.
All in all, it was a nice, relaxing weekend. That ended with me becoming the planner for the ladies’ group at church. GASP
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I cannot wait to slip into a food induced coma. I’m hosting this year, which means that I’m supplying:
brussels sprouts and bacon
glazed carrots with craisins
mashed potatoes with garlic and sour cream
sweet potato pie
My sister is supplying the macaroni and cheese. Now, I have to tell you about this mac~n~cheese, I am not a mac~n~cheese eater BUT one year my sister made one that was so good that I didn’t let her leave my house until she’d made several more and frozen them for me to eat later. It was that good.
My mom is bringing the stuffing. This makes me happy too. There are so many good memories wrapped up in that stuffing. Memories of my whole family gathered in the kitchen, helping my dad cook. Everyone except me. I hated cooking. But I did wander through periodically to “sample”.
What I Wore Wednesday
Wednesday was a regular work day for me. I’m a librarian, so I have a lot of flexibility in what I wear. I’m not a business suit kinda girl, so being able to express myself in my clothing is pretty important to me. In fact, it’s so important the before my interview, I went to the library to check the staff out. I’m not saying I would have turned the job down if it had been more formal but there definitely would have been so hesitancy…
What I Wore Thursday
I’m trying desperately to get into the colored tights trend. I think it looks so cool on other women, I’m still not sure how I feel about it for myself. I did read that ladies over 40 (I’m not there yet. I’ll be 40 in March so….), should stay away from patterned tights. How do you feel about patterned tights on ladies 40 and over?
What I Wore Sunday
Remember last week when I talked about all the cute skirts that I purchased at the local thrift store? Well, this is another one of them. I think this is by far my favorite. You can’t tell but it’s oh~so~very swingy. It took everything within me not to twirl. And can I tell you how much I paid for this little piece of floral happiness? $3.00! Yeah, I’m pretty darn happy.
What will you be serving for Thanksgiving dinner? More importantly though, what will you be wearing?
