#ThatCoffeeLife {Living Outside the Stacks}

On the photo are the names of all the places I’ve lived.

When I was a kid, my dream was to be a foreign correspondent. Or a spy. I wanted to go to war zones and report on humanitarian issues. I imagined myself going into the jungles and interviewing warlords. Just my camera and my notebooks {these were pre pocket~tech days}. I thought I’d hang out with indigenous tribes in Africa or have meetings with world leaders. Babs aka Barbara Walters would be a personal friend.

Somewhere along the way, life interrupted my plans and I joined the Army. I became a wife and mom, an history instructor and a librarian. A world away from where I thought I’d be. Imagining what could have been and seeing what is, I wouldn’t change my life one bit. Living with my kids and watching them grow up, was very much like living in a jungle. I never knew what was going to be unearthed from day to day. Peas do not go in your nose! Survival wasn’t always guaranteed. Mom, she’s looking at me! And being married, well, you married folks know that’s nothing but negotiations, peace treaties, embargoes, and truces. Don’t put your dirty socks on the side of the hamper, put them in the hamper!

No, the adventures weren’t what I expected but I’m glad I had them all the same.

What about you? Did your life turn out like you thought it would?

About That Coffee Life…

A few weeks ago, my friend and “baby brother”, Tony Armstrong of Tony Armstrong Photography noticed my morning coffee mugs on Instagram and suggested that I do a photographic series.  I loved the idea! A mug and a story. These weekly posts are a result of his suggestion. I’m honored that fellow coffee lover, writer, and photographer,  Beatrice of inspired by beatrice clay will be joining me every Tuesday morning to share coffee and inspiration. I invite you to follow her on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter as we celebrate That Coffee Life.

If you’d like to join us, simpy take a picture of your cuppa, tell your story, and leave a comment with your link. We’ll be using the hash tag #thatcoffeelife.

Cheers,
