Sunshine Blogger Award

You guys, I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by my Ageless Style sister-friend, Shugunna of Nzuri N Simplicity. I remember the first time Shugunna messaged me on Instagram, I knew she and I would hit it off. And I was right. I enjoy reading her blog, not just for the style tips, but for the life stories as well. I always learn something new every time I visit her blog. Thank you, Shugunna for the nomination.

About the Sunshine Blogger Award

The Sunshine Blogger Award is driven by the community, passed from one blogger to the next in recognition of their inspiring, creative, and motivational blogs. Each nominee then passes a nomination on to 11 of their favorite bloggers, then it continues on. This is a great way to give recognition to newer bloggers who may otherwise fly under the radar.

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked of you
  • Nominate new blogs to receive the award and write 11 new questions for them
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award in your post
  • Notify the nominees about it by commenting on one of their blog posts

Here are Shugunna’s questions for me:

  1. What made you want to blog?
  2. What is your favorite pastime other than blogging?
  3. How do you overcome your fears?
  4. What motivates you?
  5. How do you define success?
  6. Who do you admire?
  7. What is beautiful to you?
  8. What are two things you like about yourself?
  9. Favorite style era?
  10. Heels or flats?
  11. Favorite season?

My answers:

  1. I originally started my blog as part of a library course I was taking when I was earning my Master’s in Library Science. That blog was called Curious Child’s Library Wanderings. I started this blog when I quit my library job so my family and I could move to Missouri.
  2. I like taking pictures. I don’t get out and take them as often as I’d like, but I really want to start taking pictures of something other than myself. LOL
  3. I just do it. I overthink and get in my head a lot. So I’m still learning to talk myself down. Fortunately, The Hubs is always pushing me to try new stuff.
  4. The Hubs. He doesn’t let me quit. He encourages and pushes and teases until I get stuff done.
  5. Success for me is knowing that I did whatever it is to the best of my ability.
  6. I don’t think I really admire one person. I admire a lot of different qualities: people who are funny, people who are bold, people who care.
  7. Sunrises. Sunsets. Babies crying. Sleeping puppies. The usual sentimental stuff. I also find beauty in old rundown buildings, rusted out cars, rotted wood.
  8. I like that I’m fiercely protective of my family. And I like that I love deeply – even those who’ve hurt me {I just know how to cut them from my life}.
  9. Definitely the twenties. I know I would’ve been some gangster’s girlfriend or a dancer at the Savoy Ballroom. It was a rough era for black folks, but the Harlem Renaissance managed to produce some of the most beautiful images and written words.
  10. Heels. But they have to be wedges. I cannot walk in heels to save my life.
  11. I’m a sweater weather girl.

I nominate:

My questions:

  1. Are you a listener or a talker?
  2. What was your favorite childhood game?
  3. Would you rather have a rewind button or a pause button on your life?
  4. What’s your favorite commercial?
  5. If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?
  6. What’s your favorite type of music?
  7. What was the best book recommendation you ever received?
  8. What topic could you give a 20-minute presentation on without any preparation?
  9. If you could live in any sitcom, which one would it be?
  10. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve ever eaten?
  11. What fashion trend needs to be brought back?

While you’re here, I’d love to have you join us for our #StyleImitatingArt linkup. All of the details are right here.
