Training for My #5Kfor40 {In the Gym}

Training for #5Kfor40 {Living Outside the Stacks}

All day long I was looking forward to getting out on the track and running. Even when the storms moved in, I prayed that it would clear up before it was time for my training group to meet. It did and I was glad.

Until I actually hit the track. It was an awful run day. I know everyone has them but I wasn’t expecting it because of my level of excitement. I did the warm up run and stretching exercises, then about 10 minutes into the run I felt a little queasy so I started walking. I tried slogging {slow jogging} but that only made me feel even more nauseous. So I called it a day and went home.

I felt like an absolute failure. All the way home, I kept thinking about how I quit and how I should’ve pushed my way through. The other ladies didn’t quit. I know that’s not fair to me. I’m not competing against them; I’m running with them and competing against myself.

Tomorrow is another day and an another opportunity to succeed.

How do you deal when you feel your groove slipping?

Feel free to follow my training here on my blog and cheer me on as I RUN the Capaha Classic 5K on 13 July. You can watch my progress on Instagram and Twitter.
