Hi and welcome to the Christmas edition of Where Bloggers Live! I’m happy you’ve joined me for a look around at my Christmas decorations.

The Hubs and I went back and forth over whether or not we’d decorate this year. Since the kids moved out, I haven’t much felt like decorating. Well, that and the fact that I can’t find any of the decorations that I’d collected over the years. You see, every year, since my first daughter was born, I’d go to the store and find an ornament for her and write the year on it. As the other children came along, I did the same for them. Between our moving from Pennsylvania to Missouri, and Missouri to Georgia, and Georgia to here, those ornaments were lost. You can see some pictures of some of the ones that I lost at the end of this post.

CHRISTMAS 2019

When the kids were little, I tried to ensure that we had decorations that looked like them. Finding African American angels, Santas, or what have you, used to be darned near impossible. It’s easier now, but you have to snatch them up quickly because #representationmatters.

I’m not gonna lie. I leave these Christmas pillows up year around because they’re so cute. They add a little bit of quirkiness to our dining room. Do you leave up any of your Christmas decorations?

These pictures make me smile. I remember when I came home with the white tree and my family about fell over. They were mortified. I was in love. When I was a little girl, we had a silver Christmas tree and I thought it was the best thing ever. But, then, I’ve always been a little extra. However, once the tree was decorated, my family loved it as much as I did. In fact, when it yellowed and I had to toss it, they were just as brokenhearted as I was.

I’m most devastated by the loss of the handmade ornaments. The funky little macaroni tree. The clothespin soldier that was missing an eye. The snowmen with toothless pictures of my children beaming through cutouts. I’ll never get those ornaments back, but if I close my eyes, I can still see my babies bringing each one home.

And hanging it on the tree.

And me putting it in it’s proper place after they went to bed.

I know I’m not the only one who redecorated the tree after the kids went to bed…
