Where Bloggers Live: My Junk Drawer

Hey, y’all, hey. How are things? I had a great week. The Boy came home for a visit and, y’all, my momma heart was so happy {even if Lola did totally abandon me for him}. Seeing your kids as adults is always so weird. But it didn’t really hit home until he pointed out that he is now older than I was when I had him. What? How is that possible? I listened to him talk to his dad about his job. I watched him drive off to head home…

Welcome to the monthly edition of Where Bloggers Live. It’s kind of like HGTV’s “Celebrities at Home,” but…Bloggers! Who doesn’t like to peek behind the scenes and see inside people’s homes? Over the next few months, a group of seven bloggers will be sharing their work spaces, their homes, towns and more!

I should note – because this is super important – the creative brain behind this project is Bettye at Fashion Schlub! Love her!

THE THEME: My Junk Drawer

Our junk drawer is in our kitchen. Is that where most junk drawers are located?

Funny story about the paint on the cabinets: when we bought this house, the owners had “aged” the kitchen cabinets with paint and, well, there were lots of drippings and splotches, so I tried to clean it up and ended up washing away the distressing on some of the cabinets. Now I have some cabinets that are “aged” and others that are not. At some point, I want to repaint the cabinets. I’ve put together a whole Pinterest board with ideas, you can see it here.

We also want to replace the knobs and handles, but I can’t decide what I want. Sometimes I want Anthro-inspired vintage knobs and other times I want something in brass or oiled bronze. I simply can’t decide. So, here we are, nearly three years later with nothing changed.

But that’s not the point of this post, is it?

This junk drawer. This is where The Hubs puts things like small tools, pens, and batteries. You know, the things we need. I keep weird things like monkey bag clips and random straws. Had I taken this picture a month ago, there would’ve also been takeout ketchup packets and napkins.

Now it’s your turn

What do you keep in your junk drawer? Do you have more than one? Full disclosure: we have two but the other drawer is hard to open so once stuff goes in there it never comes out.

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog. For the current theme, see this post.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I hope you enjoyed this post and learned something new. If you like what you read, please consider sharing this post on Facebook or Twitter. You can also share on Pinterest. While I pay for many of the items I share on this blog out of my own pocket, some items are gifted to me {I always disclose those items}.
