MY OPINION

I was all kinds of excited to review this book when the offer first came through. As many of my long time readers know, I’ve been struggling with my weight for years, so I’m willing to try just about anything. And I’ll be the first to admit that I thought using a book to exercise and lose weight would not be that effective but I was wrong. Within the first two weeks, I lost a little over 2 lbs from following the exercise chart*, reading the inspirational messages and bopping along to the daily song. Unfortunately, I was unable to stay on the program because I was sidelined with a week long battle with The Plague (aka the flu). Now that I’ve regained my health, I will be going back onto the program.

I think what made this program work for me is that it’s a day~by~day process. I enjoyed reading the stories of how others worked their way to a healthy weight and lifestyle. Knowing that there were people that Donna encountered who overcame bigger weight struggles than I have is inspiring. I also liked having scriptures to back up the idea that we are mandated by God to live our healthiest lives and cherish the vessel that he has given us.

The biggest drawback for me was the diet plan. I have a large family, so following the meal plan was impossible. I simply don’t have the time or the finances to cook separate meals for myself and my family and some of the meals don’t work for teens. I would love it if someday a fitness/diet expert would consider that when making these specialized menus.

Overall, I think this is a good fitness program to follow if you like the idea of combining fitness with spirituality.
