Moss Covered Tree Trunk {Shoot. Edit. Submit.}
This is probably my favorite picture from my photo walk this week. I dunno, there’s something about fallen trees and moss… I want to know what felled the tree. Was it a bad storm? Did the tree rot? And how long did it take the moss to grow? I know, my thoughts are completely random but what are you gonna do? These are the things that go through my head… I’m linking up with Misty and Kim for Shoot. Edit. Submit. To join in the fun, all you have to do is: Photo must be taken this week (Saturday ~ Friday) Only one entry per person “Shoot. Edit. Submit.” button…

Cape Girardeau Conservation Center {This or That Thursday}
After running some errands, Miss 18 and I decided to stop by the Conservation Center and go for a walk. I love it there. It’s so peaceful and quiet. Well, you know, except when you get down in the woods and you hear stuff moving amongst the trees but you don’t see anything. That’s kinda freaky. And Miss 18 didn’t help with all the jumping and screaming she was doing. Still I managed to get some great pictures… In her defense, I did my fair share of jumping too, but I was the one on the ground with the spiders that she kept pointing out to me. And, nope, there…

Think and Pray Before You Step {Word Filled Wednesday}
I’ve often said that I have the navigational skills of a monkey in a hurricane. Sometimes being directionally challenged has led me to wonderful discoveries such as the Bollinger Mill Historical Site and other times it has left me on the side of the road near breaking point because I wasn’t sure which way to go. But the one thing that I’ve learned throughout both of these experiences is that I need to have a plan. If I don’t want to get lost, I can’t simply rely on my GPS. I have to have a map and a fully charged phone. In our spiritual lives, sometimes we can feel like…

Who Am I {Project52.org Assignment One}
This year I decided to challenge myself and participate in a 52 week course that’s hosted by Project52.org. I’m no where near the skill level of the other participants but the only way to get better is to challenge yourself, right? So that’s my intention ~ to push myself to be better. The first assignment is to write a vision statement identifying how we see ourselves as photographers and what we’d like to do with our photography. I’m a librarian by training, so naturally I see people as books, each with their own story to tell… People are books ~ some of their covers are worn with use, others are…

Me, a Biblical Fitness Guru? Whatchoo Talking ‘Bout?
My pastor is sneaky. Ever since we started attending this church, he’s been trying to figure out a way to get me involved. With people. Talking to them. Sharing with them. Just doing something. And each time he’s given me a task, I’ve politely declined. Not because I’m hard headed or anything but because I tend to be a little unsure of myself. And I doubt myself. And I second guess myself. And I over analyze everything to death. Except when it comes to research. I’m good at research. There’s nothing I enjoy more than finding obscure facts. Or helping others to find information. Ask me a question and I’ll…

My Plans for 2012 {Photography}
Wow! Can you believe it, we’ve made it to 2012! throws confetti I’m so very excited for what this new year will bring for me both personally and professionally. Yesterday, my daughter wrote the very first post for 2012 and I couldn’t agree more with her words ~ she said instead of sitting back and complaining about how bad last year was, take the initiative to make this year better and that’s exactly what I intend to do. I plan to make it better and to learn a lot along the way. Last year, I had a lot of fun getting used to my camera by participating in different challenges…

Miss 14: The Year that Was and the Year to Come {Guest Post}
Once upon a time, Miss 14 went through my blog and counted how many times I mentioned her and found her numbers to be woefully low. As a remedy, I suggested that she write a guest post about whatever struck her fancy. She took the challenge and has now written her second guest post for me. Here, she shares her thoughts on the year that was and the year to come… A lot of things have happened this year for example: My dad got a promotion and we moved to Missouri, I go to a church that I absolutely love and the people are absolutely wonderful, my family is closer…
