Changing My Perspective: Dandelions {Photography}
When I first picked up my camera, my goal was to simply capture a moment. I didn’t know anything about focus, composition or lighting. I didn’t pay attention to angles and perspective. I simply picked up the camera, aimed and snapped. And while those photographs have made for some wonderful memory makers, that certain oomph is missing. It’s the oomph that takes pictures from being meh to wow. When taking pictures of flowers, for example, I used to only take them with me standing over them and looking down. A nice picture and incredibly “useful” in many cases. You get a nice overall view of the flower and the surrounding…

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Hi! Welcome to another edition of Scavenger Hunt Sunday. What a great week I’ve had: I was selected to be a small group leader for an online Bible study program which has me so excited, I finally got my Facebook page set up and I’m loving it (please click here to check it out) and, well, I’ve been blessed to see another week and participate in another hunt. 1. Vintage I bought these beautiful necklaces at a second~hand shop when I lived in Pennsylvania. There’s something so classy and yet so funky about pearls, don’t you think? 2. Word or Quote I saw this verse written on slip of paper…

Brown Wedges {Shoe Style Saturday}
I decided to bring it back… Shoe Style Saturday. I just love shoes too much to ignore them. Today my shoes are supposed to be taking me to choir rehearsal for a sound check but I’m still fighting this stupid cold. Seriously, I’ve been sick off and on since the first week of March, when will this end? So my shoes and I will be spending our day at home, on the sofa with the remote in hand. Where will your shoes take you today? To participate in Shoe Style Saturday, all you have to do is take a picture of your shoes post them to your blog leave a…

Dandelion {Shoot. Edit. Submit.}
Hi, if you’re new here please feel free to look around and leave a comment. If you like, you can also join me and the rest of my friends on Facebook by clicking here. I often wonder what my neighbors must think when they drive past my house and I’m stretched out on the ground taking pictures of dandelions. And by down on the ground, I mean I was literally in the mud when I took the above picture but it was so worth it, don’t you think? I’ve been practicing using the Manual settings and having so much fun (and seriously over exposing) with my shots. I need to…

Why I Need to Study the Bible
A few weeks ago, I heard the story of Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani and I was awe struck by the strength of his faith in the face of certain death. Pastor Youcef was sentenced to death in Iran for being a Christian, you can read more about him by clicking here. When presented with the opportunity to save his life by “simply” claiming that Jesus is a prophet and not the son of God, Pastor Youcef replied “I cannot…” and went on to explain that by making that declaration, he would be denying the very essence of his faith and would offend God. Pastor Youcef has become the face of the…

March Photo~A~Day {This or That Thursday}
Longest week. Ever. My kid is still away from the nest so I’m on pins and needles until she returns. You know how it is when it’s your kids first time away from home… And if you don’t know, trust me, it’ll happen. Thankfully, I have the antics of my other kids to keep me laughing. And, of course, the hubs is here to talk me off the ledge. But, mostly, I’ve been relying on various photography challenges to keep my mind occupied. It’s a good thing I’m distracted by shiny… To see a larger version, please click here These are my photos from 8~14 March. The prompts were: Window…

Children are a Heritage {Yarn Along}
A few weeks ago, a friend called to tell me that he and his wife are expecting their first son in early spring. I couldn’t have been more thrilled for them. I immediately started thinking about what I could get to help welcome their little one into the world and it occurred to me that the greatest gift that I could give is one that comes from the heart ~ a handmade baby blanket. The blanket will be made of 3 solid colors {dark brown, tan and baby blue} and blue, dark brown and tan multicolored granny squares. I’m trying to decide whether or not to use a contrasting yarn…

If This Is Winter, I’ll Take It
It has been crazy beautiful here in Missouri. Really, if this is what winter is like down in the south, I’ll take it. What’s like in your neck of the woods?

MapMyFITNESS Quaker Challenge Update
Do you remember my wake up call photo? If not, go here and take a peek. What a difference two weeks can make! Here’s this week’s photo: I’m down 2 lbs and 2 inches around the waist. I’ve also worked out twice a day for 8 out of the 14 days. The last few days I’ve had some sort of weird bug that will not go away. But I’m feeling better so I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. How are you doing with your health goals?

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was beyond wonderful. My twin sister and I celebrated our 39th birthday {you can read the crazy story surrounding our birth by going here} and the hubs and I celebrated our 17th anniversary. Longest starter marriage. Ever. But, most importantly, the hubs was baptized today! 1. Water From the archives. There’s something about black and white photos of rain that bring me such a feeling of peace. 2. Light This was taken for the March Photo~A~Day Challenge. I like the way the light from my lamp casts a subtle glow over my night stand. 3. Chocolate I love Cadbury Creme Eggs.…
