What I Wore Wednesday #29
JOIN ME FOR SHOE STYLE SATURDAY THIS SATURDAY FOR MORE INFORMATION, CLICK HERE Last week I talked about how I’d entered a fashion slump so I was using the Outfit Inspiration Calendar posted by Fab Finds Under $50 to dress each morning, and let me tell ya, it’s worked! I’ve worn items in my closet that I haven’t worn in months (years?) and put together textures and patterns that I would have shied away from a long time ago. Seriously, if you need to step out of your fashion comfort zone, I totally recommend using the calendar. Thursday: Add Some Pink I’m so not a pink girl so this was a bit…

What I Wore Wednesday #28
Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve participated in What I Wore Wednesday. Don’t worry, I haven’t been walking around nekkid or anything, but I have been in a bit of a fashion funk. Yeah, I was still putting together my outfits but it was just taking so much effort. And everything was starting to look the same, then I stumbled across Fab Finds Under $50 and my inspiration was renewed. Each month, Kimberly provides a calendar with daily fashion challenges to try. Fun, no? Now I can’t guarantee that I’ll participate every day but I know that I will try to hit every day that I possibly can. What…

What I Wore: How to Style the Encore Dress by Zuri for Work
As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support. Hey, Friends! How are you doing? I’m OK. It’s Wednesday night and I’m sitting here watching HSN for inspiration. Do you do that? I watch the fashion and accessories shows on the home shopping channels to see how they style different pieces. I also like the conversations that the hosts have with their guests, sometimes they’re pretty funny.…

What I Wore: First Day of School
As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support. Classes started last week and, y’all, I can’t tell you how much I enjoy the first weeks of school. Everyone is buzzing with that fresh start energy, you know? And, much like when my kids were little, I felt the need to go school shopping. I bought a new planner, some pens, and, of course, a new dress.…

Where Bloggers Live: My Blogging Inspiration
Funny story: my blogging buddies had a whole email chain about how we’re last minute bloggers but we were going to make deadline because *dang it* that’s what we do annnnnnd I didn’t. Not because I’m a slacker but because I’m a slacker. Haha I sat down at this computer six different times last night and every single time, I got up and got distracted by random shiny object until this morning when I audibly groaned and said “I’ve done it again. I’ve missed the deadline.” Y’all, I’m not like this IRL. I’m a stickler for deadlines. I’m the person who shows up to meetings 15 minutes early and gets…

Burst of Color in Winter
Have you ever shopped with Zulily? I’m such a big fan of that site. I know some folks have problems with the return policy and the long wait for ordered items, but I don’t. I have 4 daughters, so if something doesn’t fit, I have 4 other people who can try it out. As for the long wait, well, it’s like getting a surprise in the mail. I like the unique offerings from Zulily, like this dress. Because the dress is sleeveless, I paired it with a long sleeve tee and a 3/4 sleeve cardigan. I limited my jewelry to a simple pair of earrings because, well, with all of…

Retro Floral Dress and Blue Suede Shoes
Disclaimer: I received these shoes courtesy of Rialto Shoes in exchange for an honest review. All words and happiness are straight from the heart and the soles of my happy feet! When I was a teenager, I used to save my money for two things: watches and shoes. One year, I bought a pair of black patent leather shooties that tied with a black grosgrain ribbon. I loved those shoes. I wore them until the heels were all gnarly and the ribbons frayed. I never thought I’d find another pair of shoes as cool as those. And did I mention that I purchased them while living in Italy in the…

Jeweled Cardigan and Faux Leather Midi Skirt
Happy Wednesday! I hope y’all are having a great week. This is the last week of regular classes, so I’m knee deep in grading right now. And next week is Finals Week so stress barf. I’m teaching two classes and feel like I have no time to breathe. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to this break in a big way. Did you notice I’m not wearing a lick of makeup? So I totally broke out in hives on the Friday after Thanksgiving and had to go barefaced. I don’t mind, but when you’re wearing a faux leather midi skirt and fishnets, you really need to pump up the top,…

Chunky Sweater and Denim Skirt
THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS, IF YOU PURCHASE SOMETHING USING THE LINK I WILL RECEIVE A COMMISSION. THAT COMMISSION GOES TOWARDS MAINTAINING MY BLOG. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT. Hello, wishing all of you an early Happy Thanksgiving. Do you have plans? We’re not doing much. It’ll just be The Hubs, our two youngest girls, and me this year. We’ve gone back and forth over whether or not we want a traditional meal. We’ve opted for a mix: Cornish Hen, baked macaroni and cheese, cornbread stuffing {do you say “dressing”?}, cranberry sauce {from a can because yes}, and pies {pumpkin for The Hubs and sweet potato for me}.…

Literary Graphic Tee: The Wizard of Oz
Did you see my post called Geek is Chic? In it I share my love of graphic tees. Especially book related graphic tees. Because, well, you know, librarian. One of my all~time favorite movies is The Wizard of Oz.* I mean, it’s all about shoes. And it has flying monkeys. What more could you want out of life? So when I found this tee on Etsy, I just knew I had to have it. No wonder the Wicked Witch was hunting Dorothy and her gang! These shoes are beyond fabulous and, believe it or not, they’re incredibly comfortable. Three and a half inch heels and I was able to wear…
