THE AGELESS STYLE LINKUP
Nine ladies, forty and over, show you that style doesn’t have an age limit. A themed linkup takes place on the first Tuesday of every month.
This month’s theme is: HOW TO TRANSITION SUMMER PIECES INTO FALL.
It’s almost Autumn and I am beyond excited. This is hands down my favorite season. I mean cozy sweaters, tights, riding boots… What’s not to love? And, of course, there’s coffee. Who am I kidding? It’s always coffee season. And while it won’t get cold enough for sweaters and boots for a long time because Georgia, I can still have fun putting together my outfits, right? So, yay for this month’s theme: transitioning Summer outfits to Fall outfits.
MY LOOK
Summer Look
Tunic and Lace Slip: Umgee | Skirt: Thrifted | Watch: Fitbit Blaze | Necklace, Bracelets, and Animal Print Flats: Target
It’s hot here. Hot and humid. But the library is freezing cold. So I tend to dress in layers. My legs get a little chilly during the day so I usually go for a walk to warm up. But as long as I keep my arms and hands warm, I’m good.
Autumn Looks
Tunic and Lace Slip: Umgee | Skirt: Thrifted | Watch: Fitbit Blaze | Necklace, Bracelets, Patterned Tights, and Animal Print Flats: Target
I am a big fan of tights. Seriously, the smallest wind and I’m breaking them out. I don’t just like them for the warmth but I like them for the texture and depth that they add to outfits. They’re also fun ~ the colors, the patterns, the textures, etc.
Tunic and Lace Slip: Umgee | Skirt: Thrifted | Watch: Fitbit Blaze | Necklace and Bracelets, and Socks: Target | Boots: Old. So very old.
My favorite fall look is a skirt with socks and boots, topped with a blouse and a cardigan or a tunic. I like this look because it’s relaxed and comfortable with just a bit of whimsy. I’m a librarian, people expect me to be a tad bit quirky and this allows me to be just that while being professional at the same time.
My friends on Instagram asked me for layering tips, so I thought I’d share a few:
- Texture ~ mix textures: something smooth with something “rough” like the cotton of my top with the lace and tulle from the slip against the chiffon of my skirt
- Color ~ go neutral or complimentary: I chose to stick with neutrals that were pulled from the florals in my skirt
- Length ~ varying lengths keeps everything balanced and allows for colors and textures to show through, everything I have on has a contrasting high low hem, which allows every layer to be seen from every direction
How do you transition your outfits from Summer to Autumn?
