Bible in 90 Days: Day 33 SOAP

2 Chronicles 33:13

He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom.  Then Manasseh knew that the LORD was God.

Manasseh was an evil man who did so much wrong in the sight of God ~ he worshiped idols, sacrificed his sons, destroyed the temple that Solomon had built ~ he did everything that was contrary to the Law.  However, when he humbled himself and asked forgiveness, God saw his heart and forgave him.

There are times when I look back on my life and I remember the passing thoughts that I’ve had, the sins that I’ve committed and I’ve wondered how could God still love me?  How can He continue to show me so much grace and mercy?  And I realize it’s not because of who I am that He does this, it’s because of who He is ~ a loving and forgiving God whose command is to love Him above all else.

Lord, thank You for Your grace and mercy.  Thank You for loving us even when we cannot love ourselves and for being there even when we’ve turned our backs on You.  Soften the hearts of those whose hearts have been hardened and lead them to you.  And for those who have found their way to you, help them to continue to humble themselves before You and to do what is right in Your eyes.  Give them a heart and a mind that is for Your will and not their own.  Help us all to know that You are God.
