Matthew 12:36~37
36 I tell you, on the day of judgement people will give account for every careless word they speak,
37 for by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned.
OBSERVATION
How many times have we spoken without thinking? Shared a rumor without knowing the full truth? Spoken about a celebrity based on a blurb from a news story? These are all careless words that do nothing but bring harm and bad feelings. Someday God is going to require that we answer for each word spoken…
APPLICATION
I know I’m guilty of idle gossip and speaking out of anger ~ using words to hurt people and put them down, I want to be better than that. I don’t want to stand before Him and have to try to justify those words. There is no justification. I want my words to bring comfort, understanding, love and peace. I want my conversation to be one that I would not be ashamed to have in front of Him.
PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for showing me Your love and mercy. Thank You for opening my heart to You and for allowing me to know Your truth. Please guide and protect my words and my heart so that I won’t sin against You. Help me to keep silent when my words are full of anger and hurt, and help me to speak when I can bring peace and understanding through You. Amen.
