Soooo race day has come and gone and I did not run. I did not run the Capaha Classic 5K that I spent the last 8 weeks training for… I psyched myself out. I found out about the course and decided that I couldn’t do it. Running the race and placing last is not the fail; not running the race and not placing at all, that is the fail. That is not a good feeling to carry around. So I won’t. Today I’m moving forward. No looking back.
One of the things that I learned about myself is that I like doing the charity runs. It makes me feel good to know that I’m helping others while doing something that I truly enjoy.
I’ve found two runs that I’d like to participate in:
This non~timed 5K run/walk raises money for Give Joy 2 One, which provides fresh clean drinking water for people in Guatemala. At five different stations, participants will be cooled off with sprinklers, squirt guns, buckets, and more. Deadline: 26 July 2013. Registration fee: $25. Race Day: 28 July 2013.
Women’s Health Magazine has teamed up with The FEED Foundation to provide 10 meals for people who’re going hungry. To participate, all you have to do is run a 10K {6.2 mi} at one of their chosen locations or create your own run. Deadline: Any time between now and 27 October 2013. Registration fee: $28. Race Day: 19 October 2013.
Since I’ve never a run a 10K before {and still can’t make it through a 5K without stopping}, I need to do some serious training. Yesterday, I downloaded the 10K for Pink app to my phone and hope to begin using it this evening. Of course, I’ll let you know how it goes.
Have you ever participated in a charity event?
