I’ve spent the last four days in the same pair of sweat pants and tee, huddled under my blankets with tea, tissues and the TV to keep me company. That’s right, 2013’s gift to me was some horrid nastiness that completely stripped me of my voice and, at times, my will to live. But I survived. For that, I’m incredibly happy. Funny, how one’s desire to die, lessens when one is no longer hacking up a lung. Of course that means that I don’t have a “real” What I Wore Wednesday post because, well, my sweat pants are disgusting.
So I decided to highlight some of my key leg looks from last year and one from this year. I know, you’re thinking Leg looks? Whatever do you mean? When I was a teen in the ahem 80s, I loved wearing colored and patterned tights. It drove my family nuts. Seriously, there wasn’t a striped hose or neon patterned leg that I didn’t like.
I don’t know why I stopped wearing colored tights. I know why I stopped wearing neon ones, what I don’t know is why I started wearing them in the first place. But I absolutely adore them now. I almost never wear them as a match to my outfits but more like a contrast to my outfit, I just think that makes my clothes more fun.
Anyway, here are some of my favorite leg looks from last year:
Although I’m wearing five different colors, I think this works because everything is sort of muted. Your eyes sort of graze over the entire outfit instead of getting stuck in one place. You can see the original outfit by clicking here.
This had to have been my favorite look of the year. I don’t know if it’s because of the mustard colored tights or the mustard against the teal or what, but I just adored this. In fact, I liked the look so much that I spent weeks looking for a mustard colored cardi. Cannot wait to show that to you. Anyway, you can see the original outfit by clicking here.
Whoever invented white sweater tights should get some sort of medal. I think they’re highly underrated but they’re so versatile. Really, next time you see a pair, grab them, you’ll wear them with everything and you legs will stay toasty warm. You can see the original outfit by clicking here.
I think this is one of the outfits that would’ve totally freaked out my parents back in the day. I’m not sure if I’d wear this again, it was fun but it was a little too bold for me. You can see the original outfit by clicking here.
