Dancing with Thanks

Tonight was my daughter’s Homecoming Dance – I don’t know who was more excited, me or her. There’s something about watching your baby get all dolled up for her first big dance that makes the heart melt. And, I have to say, she looked absolutely beautiful.

At the end of the night, she gave me a run down of all the events and then came the clincher….there was a girl at the dance who was wearing the same dress. I waited for the complaints, the-mom-why-didn’t-you-special-order-my-dress-even-though-it’s-not-the-prom-but-we-had-on-the-same-dress meltdown. All she said was “We have good taste.”

So tonight I’m grateful for a teenager who understands that things happen and, yes, sometimes you will end up at a party wearing the same dress as someone else but it’s not the end of the world. It’s just a sign that you both have good taste.
