This post is for the 31 Day ProBlogger Challenge that is being hosted by the ladies at SITS. I also actively participate in the Better Your Blog Forums that is hosted by my girl, Alyna of The Gift Detective. The purposes of these challenges/workshops is to better my blog, find focus and grow my readership. As you read these posts, please feel free to leave comments, tips and suggestions. Thank you.
The first assignment is to write an “elevator pitch” or a 30 second spiel telling a potential reader what my blog is about. Before I launch into my elevator pitch, let me tell you why I started this blog…
For almost seven years I had been working as a librarian/archivist/American history instructor and, suddenly, my life was about to change. Due to my husband’s job, I was about to walk away from my career and start all over in a new state and I though blogging would be a fun way to let everyone know how I was doing. We ended up staying in the area and I ended up enjoying the blogging process, so the blog stayed. Over time, the focus has turned from me to social/health issues that I find important and relevant to women and families. While I still use my own experiences for a background source, I try to provide information that will help women to become healthier and happier.

Short Elevator Pitch: Helping women to navigate through life towards a happier and healthier self
Long Elevator Pitch: I have the research skills of a librarian, the preservation skills of an archivist, the organizational skills of a mother and the domestic skills of a Stepford Wife. My blog, Living Outside the Stacks, is about my adventures navigating through life away from the stacks.
