When I look in the mirror, what do I see? squints and peers closely at the blog, looking for signs of aging Ah, I see an About Me page that’s a little loose under the jowls. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. This is a working blog, ya know? I just think the writing on it could be a little “tighter.” It needs to reflect the fun, eclectic and sophisticated woman that I am.
The transition from the first paragraph to the body of the page just doesn’t flow. And that page ought to be a bit more pulled together, after all, that is the page that introduces readers to me, my writing style and my blog. The About Me page is essentially my face on the web and I always want to put my best face forward.
When I visit other people’s blogs, one of the first pages I like to visit is their About Me page because it gives me a feel for the individual. If that page is on point, I feel like the rest of the blog will be too. And by on point, I mean there are pictures, a paragraph telling me who you are and why I should read your blog. There should be some sort of connection that is developed from that page ~ give me a reason to want to stick around.
I think I also need to consolidate or eliminate some of my pages. When I look at my left sidebar, it just looks overwhelming ~ like there’s a lot going on. That’s not good. It makes things look cluttered and disorganized. The left sidebar is supposed to highlight key parts of my blog, not just fill space. So I’m definitely gonna have to take a look at that and see if I can clean it up a bit.
When you visit a blog, what page do you visit first? Is there any part of your blog that needs tweaking?
