For the most part, I’m comfortable with myself. There are days when I think I look like a big hulking figure clunking through the stacks at the library but then there are days when I feel like I’m strolling down my own personal red carpet. The times when I’m most unsure are when I’m meeting someone for the first time. First impressions are lasting impressions. So I usually try to wear something that makes me feel confident.
And, believe it or not, short hair does it for me. I’d been wanting to cut my hair short for a long time but I’d been resisting the urge. Short hair makes me feel both funky and feminine.
With short hair, I have to really work to keep from looking too masculine, so that means wearing girly clothes, fun accessories, and more makeup. Yes, Shontel, that includes lipstick. My sister is forever telling me that I need to wear lipstick.
