Guess what I did today? I went to the gym! Now let me explain something, it’s been a long time since I’ve been in a real gym. Like 13 long years… I quit going to the gym after I separated from the Army. Actually, I quit going to the gym before I got out of the Army ~ way too many guys cutting out the liners of their PT shorts and then doing sit ups. Grrrrrooooooossssssss!
Anyway, yesterday I joined Planet Fitness because I was frustrated that I couldn’t run because of the weather. Even after the snow melts it’ll be a good week or two before I can hit the track because, well, the track will be muddy and nasty. So my plan is/was to hit the treadmill and continue with C25K. Um, yeah, that ain’t gonna work.
My plans changed when I actually stepped on the treadmill. I was on that dern thing for 30 minutes with a speed of 3.5 and an incline of 3.7 and only managed to walk 1 point something miles. Seriously. I thought I had walked 4 or 5 miles. I was so proud of myself. Way to psych myself out. While I was there, I met with a trainer and he set me up with a nice little workout routine to help get me into shape. My training consists of a 5 minute warm up, 10 to 15 minutes of weight, 10 to 15 minutes of cardio and a 5 minute cool down. The plan is to hit the gym 3 days a week, run two days a week and do the EA Sports Active on the days that I do not go to the gym.
