I Didn’t Die

A few weeks ago I wrote about wanting to run a 5K and prepping for it by doing the C25K program. Well, I had to give up the C25K because the weather was awful. It snowed for days on end and then it was just too cold. So I started going to the gym to get in my workouts between the EA Sports and cardio dance DVDs. Anyway, I brought up the topic of running a 5K again to my husband and he looked a little dubious. Nothing like a challenge to push me off my butt

The next day I went to the gym and walked 3 miles in 45 minutes on the treadmill. Naturally, that led me to believe that I could run a 5K without any problems. Never mind that walking on a treadmill is a lot different than running on the streets ~ the hilly streets of Northeast Pennsylvania. Sometimes rational thought and I just barely meet half way ~ on this topic we weren’t even on the same road.

After searching through a few 5Ks, I ended up registering to run in the Children’s Advocacy Center 6th Annual Moonlight Run on Sunday, 25 April. Yay me! I’m so excited. So excited, in fact, that I decided to go for a run this morning despite getting less than 4 hours of sleep.

I went on a 4.3 mile run/walk this morning. I know that’s 1.2 miles more than a 5K but there is a method to my madness. I figure if I can run 4.3 miles without keeling over, I can run the 5K in less than an hour (which is how long we have to run) without any major issues.

Anyway, I posted pics of my route so that everyone could see that I’m actually training on a very hilly route. By the way, it took me 57 minutes to run/walk the 4.3 miles ~ I probably could have done it in less time had I not been taking pictures along the way. Trust me, that’ll end.
