1. Are you watching the Olympics? I’m not. I usually don’t but I see the updates on Facebook and Twitter, that’s enough for me. What made me stop what I was doing and take a look was all the mean comments directed towards Gaby Douglas and her hair. I was just thinking, sheesh, how bad is it that it’s overriding her Olympic wins? She. Wears. Her. Hair. In. A. Ponytail. A ponytail that is held back with clips and gel. Really, folks? She’s competing in gymnastics, not walking the catwalk. What the heck? And she’s 16! Gaby, if you’re reading this {‘cause who isn’t}, keep your head up and rock on, I’m proud of you. *fist bump*
2. This morning, Don Imus almost made me cry. Yes, I listen to Don Imus. No, there’s nothing wrong with me. Anyway, he was talking about the farm that he runs for kids who are dying from cancer and the tenderness with which he spoke, got to me and I had to check myself. It just made me wonder, how someone who can be such a total butt sometimes can be so caring…
3. Ya know, until I saw this article on the CNN website, I never thought about fashion and medical challenges…But how cool, brave and creative are these women? Really, I love how they had a medical need and they found a creative way to solve it. I remember when I had my thyroidectomy, I wore hand crocheted scarves to cover the big ol’ gruesome scar across my neck. As time passed, the scar faded but I kept wearing the scarves and I remember how pretty and fashionable I felt. I’m glad there are women out there who are fashionable and healthy.
