Training for My #5Kfor40 {In the Gym}

Training for My #5Kfor40 {Living Outside the Stacks}I’m so proud of myself. I can’t believe I’m still running. This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with anything. As far as fitness goes, anyway. I’m running 3 times a week {alternating between the park and the track} and then doing a treadmill workout the other two days. On Saturdays and Sundays I rest unless I get bored. Then I go for a short walk.

I have to be honest though, this past week has been a bust. My mother~in~law, sister~in~law, and nephew have been here and the ladies have been throwing down in the kitchen. Can you say homemade pizza, stir fry, apple pie, baked chicken, oatmeal cookies, and banana bread? Yes, that has all been going down in this house. And it’s so hard to resist. I’ve been making up for it by drinking green smoothies in the mornings and eating fruits and vegetables for lunch. Shout out to the Blender Babes! I’ve also started limiting myself to 2 cups of coffee and increasing my water intake. This adjustment to my eating habits combined with the running definitely has me feeling better and sleeping more soundly.

Today we had our second timed run. I was pretty nervous but I did so much better this time around. I only walked twice. My goal the next go around is to run two laps without stopping.

Official Time: 11 minutes 46 seconds

Distance: 1 mile

Date: 19 June 2013

On a side note, I had no idea that I look so hostile when I’m running. I don’t know whether to ignore it or hang a sign on my back that lets people know I’m not as mean as I look. At least now I know why our trainer is always asking me if I’m OK. I look like I’m having some very bad thoughts. The truth is when I run, I really don’t think about anything until I get to that last half mile. Then I’m chanting in my head “You can do it. You can do it.”

Have you ever seen a picture of yourself working out? Do you scare yourself?
