When I was a little girl, my mom used to have to force me to wear dresses and skirts. I absolutely hated them. I didn’t like that I couldn’t do stuff. You know, run, jump, skip, sit in a tree and read a book… But, you best believe, every Sunday {every time we went to church, for that matter}, my skinny little legs were peeking out from under a frilly hem.
In fact, I hated dresses so much that I made it my mission to seek out employment where jeans would be perfectly acceptable work attire. OK, maybe I didn’t go quite that far but I came pretty darn close. But one day something happened…
I discovered that skirts and dresses make me feel pretty. They make me feel feminine. I like the way the material accentuates my curves and the way the hem brushes up against my legs when I walk {Or twirl. Yes. I twirl.} I liked that they can be dressed up or dressed down. I liked that no matter what, in a dress or skirt I could look polished and put together. That doesn’t mean I’ve given jeans altogether, it just means that for now, I’m feeling pretty.
Adding the high heeled oxfords {without the laces} adds just a bit of funk to my outfit, don’t you think?
