Week 8: Family

Nikon D7500 | 18-55mm | f/4.2 | 1/25 | ISO 1000

2018 saw the introduction of a new 52 week photography project, which has me totally excited. This year I want to really step out creatively and learn/practice new skills. I’d also really like to do more than just make photos of my morning coffee, although I do enjoy that.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about being brave. Since the writing of that post, my ideas about being brave have changed. At first, I meant it to mean doing something wild and crazy. Now I think it means pushing myself to do something {anything} out of my comfort zone. And last weekend, I did just that…

I got up early Friday morning and rode with The Hubs to Enterprise Car Rental and we rented a car so that I could take my twin sister and her boys to see our youngest sister. It has been years since I’ve gotten out on the road by myself and driven more than 15 minutes. All told, the drive to Mississippi to Louisiana and back home was a little under 24 hours worth of driving. But, let me tell you, it was so worth it.

This is the first road trip that I’ve ever taken with my sister and she was, of course, subjected to my car concert during the drive. LOL The boys had me laughing almost the entire trip. And, y’all, just being able to sit and talk to my sisters was more than anything I could have asked for. We laughed. We reminisced. We shed a few tears. And we promised not to let another 10 years go by.

Already planning the next trip,
