Style Imitating Art: Sample, Style of Jean François Bony

As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support.

So, lemme tell you, this outfit is not at all what I’d planned to wear. Here’s a sneak peek at what I’d plan to wear {actually, I had it on for an entire hour} but then I got sick and ended up spending the week in bed… Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to wear and share my outfit some other time.

ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Gray}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfit. My main tip for participating is not to just look at the colors but look at the textures, think about complimentary colors, etc. In other words, you don’t have to be literal in your interpretation. It’s all about looking at the items in your closet in new and creative ways — mixing colors and patterns and just having fun.

THE CURATOR

This week’s image was chosen by me. Living Outside the Stacks is all about my life away from the library.

INSPIRATION ART WORK

I chose this sample for one reason only: I’m so digging embroidery right now.

MY OUTFIT

Logo Embroidered Tunic Black Cardigan Black Leggings and Oxfords {living outside the stacks}

Since I was sick, I had to dig through my archives for an outfit and, y’all, this one is a stretch. The only thing that mimics the inspiration is the fact that the top is covered in embroidered lace. That being said, I really do like this top. It’s so pretty. And feminine. And funky. Don’t you think?

Side note: I’m still loving my hair cut. But it’s time for a shape up…
