Style Imitating Art {Roundup}: Sample, Style of Jean François Bony
As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support.
ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Gray}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfit. My main tip for participating is not to just look at the colors but look at the textures, think about complimentary colors, etc. In other words, you don’t have to be literal in your interpretation. It’s all about looking at the items in your closet in new and creative ways — mixing colors and patterns and just having fun.
THE CURATOR
This week’s image was chosen by me. Living Outside the Stacks is all about my life away from the library.
INSPIRATION ART WORK
Sample. Style of Jean François Bony
I chose this sample for one reason only: I’m so digging embroidery right now.
SUBMISSIONS
Kezzie {KezzieAG}
Kezzie wrote: “I went to the theatre and I remembered to take this dress with me to wear for the trip so I wore it. The embroidery looks very similar up close to the one you chose and I thought pairing it with my black velvet beret, leggings and boots worked well to nod to the background as well.
Kezzie had a second outfit, which you can see here. Love!!
Y’all don’t know how happy I am to see Kezzie again! I’ve been a fan of her style since I before becoming a SIA cohost. Her outfits are just fun and this one is no different. Also, check out the ankle boots and the fun beret!
THE CO-HOSTS
Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}
Salazar wrote: “The embroidered sweatshirt is a natural choice, and I layered it on top of my striped dress to echo the stripes on the sample. I also paired it with my jacquard boots, just in case there aren’t enough embroideries in the outfit ;)”
Y’all already know I’m a shoe girl so let’s just take a minute to appreciate those ankle booties. Aren’t they fab? I love the florals paired with the stripes. Pattern mixing and embroidery!! Yes, please.
Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}
I don’t know how I missed the lacing on Kim’s pants — so very funky. And, ummm, I know I’m supposed to be focused on the embroidery, but I love the olive and animal print combination. I also like that Kim, like Salazar, did a bit of pattern mixing. Fuuuunnnnn.
