I’m a casual dresser. I’ve written before about how I used to wish that I worked in an environment where dressing up is required, but now I’m all kinds of happy that I can pretty much wear what I want. That doesn’t mean I don’t step it up every now and then, but most of the time, I just pull on jeans and a pretty top.

Little did I know that my default wardrobe choices would fall in line with Sylvia’s mini summer casual clothes challenge. Each week, Sylvia will post a casual outfit formula and challenge her readers to post their interpretation. If you’re game, head on over to 40+ Style and check out the inspiration pieces.

Paisley Top, Jeans, and Mary Janes {Living Outside the Stacks}

Whoever invented the handkerchief top deserves a standing ovation. That top hides everything! At first, I wasn’t sure about the print and the color because it’s so bold, but now that I’ve worn this combination a few times, I like love it. I’m also a fan of distressed jeans, they keep things from looking too dressy {although you could certainly amp this outfit up a few notches by exchanging the flats for a cute pair of wedges and piling on the jewelry}.

Floral Peasant Shirt Jeans and Sseko Sandals {Living Outside the Stacks} Floral Peasant Shirt Jeans and Sseko Sandals {Living Outside the Stacks}

This is one of my favorite warm weather outfits. I absolutely love floaty tops with boyfriend jeans. I know some may think the balance is off but having the ability to cinch the waist in helps to define my waist. And the sandals are incredibly comfortable and the purchase of every pair goes to help a woman in Uganda get a college education. You can buy a pair by clicking here. Cool, right?

Pink Tank Jeans and Yellow Wedges {Living Outside the Stacks}

This is so out of my comfort zone ~ the muted pink tank paired with the neon wedges ~ but I definitely enjoyed wearing this outfit last summer. I felt playful. Isn’t it funny how an outfit can change your mood and, sometimes, your personality? Unfortunately, the tank was pilfered by my teen, so it won’t be making an appearance this year. At least I have a picture though, right?

Do you have a favorite blouse or special tee that you like to pair with your jeans?
