Every Friday for the next two months, I’ll be participating in the Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge that’s being hosted by Kristi at live and laugh…out loud, Alicia at Project Alicia and Rebecca at Bumbles & Light.  If you’d like to participate, I have all the details posted down below.

I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.  Participating in these challenges provides me with an opportunity to grow and stretch as a creator and viewer of art, if you have any hints, tips or tricks, please feel free to leave them in the comments…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Green

Gazebo
Dallas, Pennsylvania

This beautiful gazebo was in the backyard of a house that the girls and I passed during one of our walks along the Back Mountain Trail.  I couldn’t imagine having something so beautiful in my backyard and not using it.  In fact, I think this fairy tale setting would become my permanent home.

Leaves and Berries
Leaves and Berries
Jackson, Missouri

These berries are on a tree in our backyard.  We’ve been here for about 2 months now and I never realized there were berries on the tree until I took my camera out one day while walking the dog.

Green Apple

This apple tree is also in my backyard.  Again, it had gone unnoticed until I took my camera out while walking the dog.  Now I wonder how many other treasures I’ve missed just because I failed to see…

Abandoned Building

Abandoned Building
Buckingham, Virginia

While visiting my mother’s family, I stumbled across this abandoned building.  It used to be a restaurant when I was a little kid.  I’m not sure how long it’s gone unused but there is a certain haunting beauty in an abandoned building.

Dewy Blade
Dewy Blade

Jackson, Missouri

Every morning when I go out to walk the dog, there’s a fine layer of dew on everything.  I’m glad I got the chance to capture it.

Really, there is something about dew in the morning, it’s as if everything has been washed and is getting the chance to begin the day anew.
