Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Finale
Can you believe we’re at the end of the challenge? Where did the time go? Is winter really just around the corner? *sigh* I’d like to thank our older full hosts for putting this challenge together ~ great job, ladies. And to all of the participants, thank you for sharing your lives and your skill each week. I tip my hat to all of you, y’all are incredibly talented. So much has changed since we first began the Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge seven weeks ago. Temps were hovering in the high 90s, the trees were lush with green leaves and my family and I were settling in to our…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: White #NaBloPoMo
I know I said orange was difficult to find but let me tell you, white was darned near impossible. I mean I didn’t get desperate enough to wish for snow or anything but I did have to get creative with some eggs for a couple of shots and dip into my folder of old photographs for others. I took these pictures at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Center late last week. I love walking around the Conservation Center, it’s so beautiful and peaceful. I can’t wait to go there in the Spring and Summer when all of the flowers are in bloom and the butterfly gardens are alive with the flitter…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Brown
Without this challenge, I never would have noticed how many beautiful shades of brown there are in nature. There are deep dark shades that border on black, rich sables, sensuous chocolates and mouth watering caramels. There are even shades that have just enough green that in the right light they look olive. Yes, this week I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of brown… And, last but not least, this one of my pastor’s daughter with her grandfather… It wasn’t taken for this challenge but I absolutely love it. How did you do with this week’s challenge? ABOUT THE SHADES OF AUTUMN PHOTO CHALLENGE The Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge is…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Red
So are you all enjoying this challenge so far? I know I am. I’m learning so much from looking at the photographs that all of you have shared (and your tips and tricks have been invaluable). I think the main thing I’ve learned is always have my camera ready, because I never know when a picture~taking opportunity might occur… Last week, after picking up Miss 18 from school, we decided to visit the local conservation center just to see what they had… Oh my gosh, it was beautiful and crazy at the same time. There were all sorts of animals on display along with information about the indigenous peoples and…

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge: Orange
If I thought last week’s challenge to find something yellow was next to impossible, I cannot begin to explain how hard finding something orange was… Seriously, where is all of the orange stuff? Kid you not, even the pumpkins were white. White pumpkins?! What is that? Then I remembered that I’d picked up some oranges on my last trip to the grocery store, so I took them out of the fridge and snapped away. Not the most inspired photographs but then, while driving to church on Sunday night, I saw this… And this… I was late for church but I think sometimes we need to just pull over and admire…
