November Photo A Day {Photography}
I’m not sure why I keep doing this to myself. Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment or maybe I’m just hoping that one day I will actually complete an entire month of photos. And, well, I kinda like this month’s Photo A Day prompts. I’ll be posting my pictures on Instagram (you can follow me by clicking here) and then doing a weekly wrap up here on the blog. Would you like to participate? Here are the rules: Starting 1 November take a picture using the inspiration from the prompt. Once you’ve taken your photo, share the picture on your blog, Facebook page, flickr, Instagram or Twitter or other preferred social media page. If you’re sharing…

The Boy Has His License {This or That Thursday}
The state of Missouri has determined that the boy is competent enough to drive a vehicle. Congratulations, Son. I love you. But more than anything else, I love that my taxi duties have officially ended. I’m linking up with: Deb Duty Photography ~ This or That Thursday

New Family Member {This or That Thursday}
A few weeks ago, our beloved dog, Squeekerz, ran away from home. To say the kids and I were devastated would be an understatement. For days, the kids and I would go outside calling his name, every time I drove to work, I’d look out my window to see if I saw him roaming the streets, we contacted every animal shelter in the area and posted his pictures all over the web and the local newspapers. No dog had ever been more sought after… My parents, didn’t want to replace Squeekerz, but they thought refocusing our attention would ease the pain. So they brought us a present… Junior is a…

Autumn Flowers {Photography}
For the past two days I’ve been working evenings, so I’ve been at a loss as to what to do with myself during the day. Sleep is so not an option. I’m used to being up and moving. So I grabbed my camera and started snapping pictures of things around the house, but nothing inspired me. Then I caught a glimpse of the flowers growing just outside my window… Aren’t they lovely? I’m not sure what they are but I do love having them outside my front door… Hope you’re enjoying your day…

Abandoned Egg {This or That Thursday}
The hubs found the nest under the lid on our propane tank. I’m sure by now that there’s probably nothing in the shell but y’all know my fear of birds (shell or not) so I didn’t touch anything to find out. And, omg, so many feathers on the nest! Instagram Love {This or That Thursday}
I’m one of those people who begged and pleaded for Instagram to come to Android. So when it finally became available, I downloaded it almost immediately and then proceeded to forget about it. I know, right? How much sense does that make? I’m not exactly how long I went without using it but one day, I was playing around with my cell phone camera and I decided to try Instagram. Oh. My. Gosh. What had I been waiting for? I was absolutely smitten. And from that moment on, I’ve had to stop myself from snapping every moment of my life. It really is quite addicting. Here are a few of…

August Photo A Day {Photography}
So did you catch all of my photos for the month of July? No? That’s because I think I took a total of four. Four in 31 days! What the heck, yo? I have a perfectly good camera that has been collecting the proverbial dust because I, hmmm, I don’t have a valid excuse. But since I got called out on Instagram by my friend Mylynka at Finding Fitness in My Forties (notice her name showing up a lot lately?), I guess I’m gonna have to succeed this month. So here it is, Fat Mum Slim’s prompts for August’s Photo A Day Challenge: Would you like to participate? Here are…

Changing My Perspective: Dandelions {Photography}
When I first picked up my camera, my goal was to simply capture a moment. I didn’t know anything about focus, composition or lighting. I didn’t pay attention to angles and perspective. I simply picked up the camera, aimed and snapped. And while those photographs have made for some wonderful memory makers, that certain oomph is missing. It’s the oomph that takes pictures from being meh to wow. When taking pictures of flowers, for example, I used to only take them with me standing over them and looking down. A nice picture and incredibly “useful” in many cases. You get a nice overall view of the flower and the surrounding…
