Coffee Talk {living outside the stacks}

I’d like to welcome you to Coffee Talk. In case you’re new here, this is where I share some of the great and not~so~great stuff that I find on the web. Topics range from news stories that leave me scratchin’ my head to DIYs that I think are absolutely clever. And, who knows, there may even be a recipe thrown in here or there just for fun.

So grab a cup of coffee {or tea or whatever floats your boat} and let’s talk…

    1. Are you watching Underground? It’s a new series about a group of slaves and their escape to freedom. There’s so much to like about this show. One: the language is easy to follow. Many slave stories use dialect which can make it hard to understand the actors and, in turn, make it hard to follow the story. Two: the slaves have an actual plan. And we get to see the whole thing taking shape, from how they create the plan to who they choose for the group. Three: the acting is on point. Every last actor in this series is owning their part. Four: the music. I mean, it’s produced by John Legend, so I’d expect nothing less. But music really drives the story. In fact, I’d say it’s an additional character in this series. If you haven’t seen it, check it out.
    2. Avocado is my current food obsession. I want it on everything. In fact, I’m so digging avocados that I made a recipe board on Pinterest.
      Follow {living outside the stacks}’s board Dinner for Two: Avocado on Pinterest.
      I haven’t tried them in smoothies yet, but I have had them on toast, in salads, and on my burgers. I’m looking forward to trying out some of the other recipes on my board.
    3. Non-scale victory: this weekend I was able to fit into a pair of size 10 jeans. They were snug but I was able to zip them up. That’s more than I’ve been able to do in over two years. Yay me!

So, talk to me, what’s going on in your world,
