A few weeks ago, I received an email from Amber at Section 391 asking if I’d like to join her, Jen at Librarian for Life and Style, and Shelley at Miss Lady Librarian for a CHECK US OUT: A back~to~school link up for librarians. Get it? Naturally, I said yes. I mean, how fun is it to see how other librarians dress for work ~ are they formal or casual? Do they play it safe or add a little bit of funk? I wanna know! And I know you do too, so check ’em out. See what I did there?
School is now in full swing at the University and as much as I look forward to the first week of school, I dread it. It’s quite possibly the most stressful week of the year… Students trying to figure out where their classes are, professors have a ton of stuff to put on reserves, and library staff suddenly remember all the projects they’d put off during the summer that need to be finished now.
And this week I was feeling the pressure from every angle. I had a ton of new students to train, more meetings than any one person should ever have to attend, and, well, most days I didn’t get to drink my first cup of coffee until after 10 AM.
So I declared Thursday a “no stress day” and decided to dress casually. I rarely wear tees to work unless they’re the school colors but after such a long week, I needed to dress down. And what better way to relax than to have Kermit the Frog extolling the virtues of geekery?
I added a cute little cardi to keep things somewhat librarianish while I was working but once I stepped out the building, it was all geeky froggy chic. My co~workers were amused by my tee and thought it was interesting, if a bit unorthodox.
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you know that I like to do a little something called “Fist Bump Friday”, where I encourage my friends to share something that has made them happy during the week. Sometimes we get so bogged down with life and the crazy that comes with it that we forget to recognize the good things. So I thought it’d be fun if we all shared and celebrated together.
Remember, it doesn’t have to be big or earth shattering. If it’s important to you, it’s important to me. So please, share your good news in the comments below.
This week, I’m happy that I survived the first week of school. I’m also linking up with Lena B, Actually and Rachel the Hat for Passion for Fashion.
What made you happy this week?
