Hi! Welcome to another round of Style Imitating Art. I hope y’all had a good weekend. We did. I mean, we didn’t do anything exciting or anything. You know, mostly hung around the house, but it was relaxing. Sometimes you just need that, right? Next weekend, we plan to go to the Louisiana Book Festival, so be prepared to read all about that.
INSPIRATION ART WORK
Pocket Flask {The MET, public domain}
The blown pattern-molded glass Pocket Flask were made in the U.S. between 1800 and 1860.
You can learn more about the Pocket Flask by clicking here.
THE CURATOR
This week’s inspiration piece was curated by me. I chose the Pocket Flask because I like the colors of the different flasks, but it was the patterns that really intrigued me. I had a friend who used to blow glass and I just remember watching her and her husband twirling the glass to shape it and it really was the coolest thing ever.
What do you think you’ll wear? I can’t wait to see!
MY LOOK
I wore this outfit to church on Sunday {yeah, I know, talk about getting it in under the wire} and although it was a cool and drizzly day, I was surprisingly comfortable. Maybe it was the addition of the tights?
l decided to wear my green earrings with this dress even though there isn’t any green in the pattern. It’s just one of those cases where I wanted my accessory to “go with” and not necessarily match anything. Olive green is the perfect color for such occasions.
I think this may be the first time I’ve ever worn tights with opened toed sandals before and, honestly, I love the look. I can so see these sandals with a pair of purple tights, red, maybe a teal. They just beg for some contrasting colors, don’t you think?
Floral Dress – Old Navy | Earrings – Nickel & Suede | Black Tights – Old | Sandals – Old Navy
Please go and visit my cohosts, Jen and Salazar, a visit to see their interpretation of the Pocket Flasks.
