ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Gray}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfit. My main tip for participating is not to just look at the colors but look at the textures, think about complimentary colors, etc. In other words, you don’t have to be literal in your interpretation. It’s all about looking at the items in your closet in new and creative ways — mixing colors and patterns and just having fun.

INSPIRATION ART WORK
I took this photo about seven years ago. At the time, I was interested in pulling colors from images, so I thought this would be a fun picture to share for our challenge this week.

Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}
Salazar wrote that she doesn’t “…have anything hot pink or purple, so I chose this flower-embroidered top which has some of the colors in the photo and paired it with my green pants and brown oxfords. It’s not as close to the inspiration as I’d like, but at least it’s comfy.” You can read her post here. I think it’s very close. There are the greens in her pants, the browns and pinks from the flower. And, as always, I’m digging Salazar’s shoes. Oxfords are so versatile – you can wear them with skirts, pants, shorts, whatever.
Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}
Kim focused on the purple’s in her outfit and I love it. Purple is my favorite color! And her bag is all kinds of fabulous. You can read Kim’s post here. I love the varying shades of purple with the nude shoes. Side note: I’m glad Kim wore nude shoes, I don’t wear white pants because I’ve been stumped about the shoes… Why didn’t I think of nude? Perfect.

Seriously, how fun is Jodie’s skirt! It looks like a photo real image {I’m almost certain that’s not what it’s called, but I can’t think right now} doesn’t it? And that bag! *swoon* The colors are so bold and fun. But you know what’s catching my eye? Those oh-so-cool white ankle boots. Niiiice.
Leslie {Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After}
Don’t you just love Leslie’s green dress? Not gonna lie, it took me a minute to even notice those oh-so-cute shoes because that color is fabulous. So bright and pretty. And paired with the pink floral scarf? Love it!
Look who joined us for this round! It’s Mike. Mike was a long time SIA participant, who popped in just for a visit. I know I’m not the only one who misses seeing his SIA interpretations. And those plants. Mike’s green shirt and the plants are perfect odes to the flower’s leaves.
Shugunna {Nzuri N* Simplicity}
Y’all, how stunning is this pink top? And paired with those neutral slacks? Every yes that ever yessed! Shugunna nails her look every. single. time.
MY LOOK
I knew this dress would be perfect for this week’s inspiration piece because of the colorful floral print and the bold yellow background. It’s just fun. I also like the different types of flowers and how they look hand drawn.
