    52 Week Project 2025: Weeks 5-8

    I didn’t really have a theme in mind when I started this project, I’d just planned to take photos when I got a chance and share my weekly fave. However, this month started with me processing an image of Bleu in black and white and thinking, hey, why not continue the black and white processing through the rest of the month? Black and white images have always been some of my favorites because they allow you to project your emotion onto the image depending upon your mood, the clarity of the image, the shadows and lights. Week 5 I took this snap of Bleu while she was sitting in one…

    52 Week Project 2025: Weeks 1-4

    I wasn’t sure if I was going to attempt a 52 week project this year. I’ve started and failed to complete one each year because I’ve been too ambitious {yes, that is possible}. Where I messed us was trying to shoot daily. I simply can’t do that. So I’ve decided to shoot once a week. That’s much more doable. There’s no pressure, ya know? If I don’t shoot one day, I have six more days to get it in. I can handle this. I’m not using any prompts, I’m just taking pictures of what I see and going from there. Again, no pressure. Here are the images from the first…

    8.52 | Eye Level View

    As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support. THE STORY Don’t fall for it. Lola is totally lying. We were eating dinner and she {and her little friend, Bleu} were begging for our food. So behind bars they went. Lola’s just a little better at the pathetics than Bleu is. ABOUT THE 52 WEEK PROJECT The prompts for the 52 Week Project: 2022 Edition are provided…

I’m just sitting in my front door, drinking my coffee, as one does. LOL I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do for this picture but I when I plopped down my new “Welcome” mats I just had to use them. The color pop against the red doors, with the sliver of green, it was…

    Tell a Stranger’s Story {Project52.org Assignment 2}

    Since moving from our home in Pennsylvania to Missouri, whenever my daughter and I get a chance to explore our new surrounds, we do. We discovered a fruit and vegetable store run by a local family that’s just down the street from our house. The two ladies are the store owner’s granddaughter’s, Shelby and Kelly, who were working there at the time. Not only did they allow me to take their pictures but they allowed me photograph their store and they gave me a log of smoked cheddar cheese in exchange for the advertising. How cool is that?

    Who Am I {Project52.org Assignment One}

    This year I decided to challenge myself and participate in a 52 week course that’s hosted by Project52.org. I’m no where near the skill level of the other participants but the only way to get better is to challenge yourself, right? So that’s my intention ~ to push myself to be better. The first assignment is to write a vision statement identifying how we see ourselves as photographers and what we’d like to do with our photography. I’m a librarian by training, so naturally I see people as books, each with their own story to tell… People are books ~ some of their covers are worn with use, others are…

    My Plans for 2012 {Photography}

    Wow! Can you believe it, we’ve made it to 2012! throws confetti I’m so very excited for what this new year will bring for me both personally and professionally. Yesterday, my daughter wrote the very first post for 2012 and I couldn’t agree more with her words ~ she said instead of sitting back and complaining about how bad last year was, take the initiative to make this year better and that’s exactly what I intend to do. I plan to make it better and to learn a lot along the way. Last year, I had a lot of fun getting used to my camera by participating in different challenges…
