After stalking the website for a year, reading reviews, watching videos, and trying to justify the price, I finally made the decision to buy a Peloton. I ordered the Bike+ Essentials, which comes with bike shoes, 3 lb bike weights, and reversible workout mat. I chose this option because I didn’t want to stress over making the right bike shoe purchase. From what I’ve read, you can use your own bike shoes, you just need to make sure that they clip in for safety reasons. I added the weights because I know I’ll want to add strength training to my cardio after I get comfortable with the rides.

My Why

I’ve shared before that I’m pre-diabetic and overweight by a good 25 to 30 lbs. No exaggeration. I also carry my weight in the middle which carries serious health issues. I’ve also started having breathing issues, knee pains, and a host of other problems that I know are weight related. And, last but not least, I think I’ve entered perimenopause.

Those are the health issues. But there are some vanity issues as well: I don’t like the way I look or feel. I’m uncomfortable in my skin.

My goal is not to “get skinny.” My goal is to get healthy. I want to feel and look better. I want to be stronger. I want to be able to walk up a flight of stairs without having to catch my breath before carrying on a conversation.

If you have a Peloton, give me a follow, my username is DAENELT and my hashtag is #TeamLOTS.

My Stats

These are my starting stats. I’ll start off updating weekly, just to keep myself accountable. I’m posting these numbers today so that I have a baseline for comparison.

My Workouts

Today I worked out for the first time with the Peloton app and I was a sweaty mess by the time it was over. I did the 20 minute Dance Cardio with Callie and Hannah. I have absolutely no rhythm or grace, but I felt every bit of that workout. When I couldn’t keep up, I just kept moving and did the steps that I could. I think this is one of those workouts that I’ll do on a Saturday or Sunday when I want to do something but don’t feel like riding the bike.

If you have a Peloton, I’d love to workout with you. I’m Daenel T and my hashtag is #TeamLOTS. Give me a follow and I’ll follow you back. I’m also on Fitbit.
