Little Black Dress {Living Outside the Stacks}

Tan Cardi Black Dress Gray Tights and Brown Boots {Living Outside the Stacks}

Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re having a great week so far. I had to work the evening shift at the library last night. deep sigh I don’t do well with that shift. It feels like it throws me off kilter. Other than that, nothing major has happened this week. I’m not complaining though. I need a week of nothing.

Last week, I had a kinda bad time of it so I did what every girl does… I cut and colored my hair. You can’t really tell {and as much as I heart y’all, it was just too cold to go outside} but it’s a deep burgundy color: Chocolate Cherry by Feria. This is my go to color when I need a change. It’s dramatic, sexy, and fun all at the same time. And it’s one of those colors that kinda makes you think, is her hair burgundy? Noooo, maybe it’s just a dark brown…

I wore this outfit to church on Sunday. My inspiration was this dress that I found on Pinterest. I like the simplicity of the outfit with the mix of colors. Do you remember when wearing brown and black together was a no~no? I had to add tights because, well, it was a little too cool to go bare legged. Again, I like the color play. Next time I wear this, I think I need a wider belt. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

    Love the hair and the outfit… you look amazing!

    Love the dress… and the hair is awesome!!! Pretty lady! Thanks for linking up for Passion For Fashion!

    • Thank you. I want to add purple, pink, and teal streaks (Thyroid Cancer Awareness) but I don’t have anyone to do it for me. And I’m too chicken to do it myself.

    that hair! love it! … even though somebody (who shall remain nameless) almost died when she thought i had taken the scissors to mine! and yes, every girl needs a little black dress … styled of course, in a way that goes against the norm!

    • LOL I really did stutter when I thought your hair was gone. See, I’m a contradiction. If I could go straight from chin length to yours without the horrible in-between grow out, what do I do with this mop on my head I’d be so happy.

  • I love smashing the fashion rules. Black and brown is fab together. My favourite is black and blue. Not just for bruises! Thank you for joining Wardrobe Wednesday! x

    • LOL Love it! I like black and varying shades of blue together too. It looks kinda rebellious. 😉

    Yes, I remember when wearing black and brown together was considered a no-no. That’s why we should define our own fashion rules. Your hair is so pretty. I could only imagine how pretty it is with natural light hi-lighting it…so lovely.

    • I think that’s the one thing about getting older that I like: I’m less concerned about looking like everyone else and being my own person.

      I’m going to have to get some pictures once it warms up. Right now it’s way too cold.

  • Your new hair is cute! Hope you have a great rest of the week! 🙂

    • Thank you, Lisa, it has been much better. Hope you’ve had a great week.

    I love that so many of your clothes are from KMart and WalMart. Lots of people love Target now (myself included) but I, like you, think you can find good pieces at the other discount stores, too! Love your style. 🙂

    • I shop with what I consider a “real” budget. Dressing nice doesn’t have to cost a fortune, but, more than that, I enjoy finding a good deal. 🙂
