Pioneer Market Fruits & Vegetables {This or That Thursday}

I big puffy heart fresh fruits and vegetables. Seriously, nothing compares to fresh produce. Especially produce from a locally owned store. So I was beyond thrilled when I discovered Pioneer Market Fruits & Vegetables just down the street from my house.

The first time I went in, I was little hesitant (I always am when I go to a new place, especially in a small town) so I picked up a couple of apples and some strawberries and scurried out without talking to anyone. The second time I went in, I knew I wanted to get more of, well, just about everything.

So Miss 18 and I browsed the shelves and we saw shiny red apples…

And bright yellow lemons surrounded by grass green pears and golden oranges…

And I can’t forget the Anjou Pears…

Pears and Lemons
Or the pumpkins that were bigger than my head…

Pie Pumpkins

I ended up walking out with fruits, vegetables, cheese and a completed photography assignment, which you can read about by clicking here.

This has become my new favorite grocery store. And if you’re ever in the area, I recommend that you stop in and say “Hi” to Shelby and Kelly, the owner’s granddaughter’s.

I’m linking up with Deb for This or That Thursday and Rachel for Show Off Your Shot.

  • Great shots. The lemons are so pretty.

I love that third photo.  The shape of the baskets and the colors of the fruit are just great.

    • Thank you. I’m so grateful to the owners allowing me to take pictures in their store.

Love the Cinderella pumpkins in the last photo — beautiful! 🙂

    • Those pumpkins were HUGE!

Gorgeous photos and so colorful! I would love to visit this market!

    • Thank you, Deb. I love the selection of fruits and vegetables.

I’ve been dying for a pear.  Yum!

    • I bought the green ones and the red ones, so delish. I think I want to try making a pear tart now that I know where I can get them.

I love farmer’s markets and this type of little home owned store.  And I always spend waaaaaaay too much money at them too because everything always looks so beautiful!

    • Hahaha I do too. I was picking up stuff and saying “Oh, I can use this for that and that for this”…. So hard to just stop at apples and oranges.

I could just get lost there for a while- I wish we had a place like that here.

    • We did. When I went back I found a row of herbs that I’d missed the first go around. I love cooking with fresh herbs.

what beautiful colors!!  my stomach’s rumbling 🙂

    • Soooo tasty! Everything was juicy.

  • I love your photos and the fruits and veggies look so good!!

    • Thank you. I think we’ve eaten up everything but the pears.

  • Looks like a great grocery store! Reminds me of a farmer’s market.  Great place for photos.

    • It is. It has the same rustic feel as a farmer’s market and they have the old fashioned stick candy.

Beautiful produce shots! You are lucky to be so close to the store.

    • It’s a fabulous store, everyone’s so nice there. I can’t wait for summer to see what they have then.
