I’m a librarian and work around people with varying degrees of scent sensitivities, so I don’t wear perfume on a daily basis. I also have sensitive skin, so I have to be careful what I use and how often I use it.
One of the few perfume lines that I can use without too much of an issue is Philosophy. I like the line but sometimes the scents can be a bit too, um, precious for me. I lean towards the darker more exotic smells like red plum, passion fruit, patchouli oil, blood orange, sandalwood, and black orchid. And leather. Don’t get me started on the smell of leather. I really should have been an interior car designer. Scents that aren’t very library friendly.
So I settle for office friendly scents like fresh roasted coffee beans. When they’re fresh, you can taste the coffee when you smell it. The beans above have a subtle hint of chocolate. They just smell like, um, life!
I’m also partial to the smell of lemons. I’m not sure why but it makes me think of exotic places, peaceful sunsets, cool water lapping at my feet… Almost all of my cleaning products have a hint of lemon in them. So does my coffee, for that matter.
Do you have a favorite fragrance? What scents appeal to you?
