7|52: Love
PHOTO INFO Nikon D850, 35mm lens 1/30 | f/1.8 | ISO 1600 THE STORY My girls and audiobooks. You can read by audiobook reviews here. ABOUT THE 52 WEEK PROJECT I get ambitious at the beginning of every year and start photography projects that I never finish. This year will be different. I will complete this project because I want one of those pretty little end-of-year photographic wrap-ups that I see on Instagram. So this year I’m going to try real hard to finish this challenge hosted by Sue Bahen with Click Community. If you’d like to join Click Community, you can click my affiliate link. 6|52: Wabi Sabi
PHOTO INFO Nikon D850, 35mm lens 1/8000| f/1.8 | ISO 160 THE STORY I pass by this building every time I walk between our campuses. I hope they never tear it down. It has so much crumbly, graffiti goodness. ABOUT THE 52 WEEK PROJECT I get ambitious at the beginning of every year and start photography projects that I never finish. This year will be different. 5|52: Looking Up
THE STORY Honestly, there isn’t a story here. This was, by far, the hardest of the prompts. I didn’t want to take a picture of the sky, I mean, the sky is beautiful, but I wanted something that would contrast with the sky, like a tall building or a plane. I thought it’d be easy as I usually see the crop dusters while traveling between the campuses but nope. This must’ve been the week all the farmers decided to let their crops fend for themselves. So the underside of a faux flower it is. ABOUT THE 52 WEEK PROJECT I get ambitious at the beginning of every year and start…

4|52: My Hometown
PHOTO INFO Nikon D850, 50mm lens 1/1250 | f/1.8 | ISO 64 THE STORY I live in a small town called Alexandria, in Central Louisiana. When I was in the Army, I was stationed at Fort Johnson about 45 minutes or so away from here and I had no idea this place existed. About fiveĀ years ago, The Hubs had the opportunity to come back and, of course, I said yes because I love Louisiana. This mural is commissioned by a local marketing company just down the street from where I work. They change it every so often, but, before they do, the kids like to take pictures in front…

3|52: Still Life Self Portrait
PHOTO INFO Nikon D850, 50mm lens 1/100 | f/1.8 | ISO 500 THE STORY This one was harder than the self portrait. I’m so not any good at flat lays and I tried several times, until I finally went with what I know and appreciate: coffee. I started drinking coffee when I was about eleven. We were living in Italy and both my parents were preachers, so they’d spend a lot of time talking to people after service. They’d talk so long that the hot chocolate and tea would be gone before they finished, so I’d start on the coffee. I’m also a hobbyist photographer, so I wanted to show…

2|52: Intention
PHOTO INFO Nikon D850, 50mm lens 1/2000 | f/1.8 | ISO 1000 THE STORY My goal for this week was to try to capture a bit of the light streaming through the dining room window. Bonus capture: my sweet girl, Bleu, taking a nap. ABOUT THE 52 WEEK PROJECT I get ambitious at the beginning of every year and start photography projects that I never finish. This year will be different. I will complete this project because I want one of those pretty little end-of-year photographic wrap-ups that I see on Instagram. 1|52: Self Portrait
PHOTO INFO Nikon D850, 35mm lens 1/20 | f/1.8 | ISO 1250 THE STORY EDITED TO ADD: Second scan was fine. Just a few cysts. Thank you for the prayers and warm thoughts. In about 1/2 an hour Iāll have an ultrasound of my right breast because my mammogram showed an “area of concern.” All through the holidays, there was this little bit of heaviness. What if? I’m already a card carrying {scar bearing} member of the Cancer Survivors Club. I’m good. I don’t need to renew my membership. Anyway, I wanted to capture the anxiety Iām feeling, but none of the images quite captured what Iām feeling. I wanted…

Weekend Getaway: Georgia
Y’all, I just spent the weekend with my daughter and her girlfriend in Georgia. When I tell you having adult children is a whole different level of momming, I’m not kidding. I love my kids, I love them dearly, but the one thing I’m most proud of is how much I genuinely like them. And, gosh, it makes my momma heart happy that they want to hang out with me. Savannah, Georgia While my daughter drove and Katie kept her company, I napped in the back. Not gonna lie, being able to relax on the road was super nice. I had to get a snap of this poster of The…

Weekend Getaway: Laurel, Mississippi {Wisteria House}
If you’ve been following along, I’ve been sharing pictures from a trip The Hubs and I took to Laurel, Mississippi. It was, honestly, as close to a spur of the moment decision you can make when you’re talking about a four-hour drive and a reservation. Meaning, we’ve talked about visiting Laurel since the show started because we’re huge fans of Ben’s and Erin’s, and, suddenly, The Hubs was like “Let’s just go.” He looked up bed and breakfasts in the area and landed on the Wisteria House. Because check-in wasn’t until late afternoon, we decided to drive around and get a feel for the town. As we were driving, I…

Weekend Getaway: Laurel, Mississippi {Leontyne Price Musical Park}
A few weekends ago, The Hubs surprised me with a trip to Laurel, Mississippi. I’m a big fan of Home Town with Erin and Ben Napier on HGTV, so I’ve been wanting to go check out their area for a long time. It’s as homey and welcoming as I’d imagined. The people are nice and, seriously, it’s everything I thought it’d be. I took a lot of pictures while I was there, so I’ll be sharing them over the next few days, weeks, I don’t know. I just know I’ll be sharing them. As an added note, I didn’t take any pictures of the renovated homes because it felt intrusive.…
