Hi! Are you ready for Christmas? Seriously, didn’t the holiday just sneak up on us? It feels like one day we were complaining about the heat and the next folks were complaining about the Hallothankgivmas decorations. Now it’s almost *gasp* 2015!! Dude. So. Not. Ready. So let’s take some time and look back on last week’s happenings…

Day 21 A Breakfast Date

My Week on Instagram {Living Outside the Stacks} | follow me on Instagram @DaenelT

The Hubs and I celebrated the beginning of his two week long vacation with coffee at one of our favorite local spots. He’s been traveling since October, so this is a much needed break for him and some much needed family time for us.

Day 20 Sugar Paper Planner

My Week on Instagram {Living Outside the Stacks} | follow me on Instagram @DaenelT

Usually, I rely on my phone for keeping appointments, but next year {*gasp* 2015} I’ll have so much going on that I decided to try keeping a planner. I wasn’t ready to make the big leap to one of those expensive life planners, but my dear sweet blogging friend, Katie from Creole Wisdom, let me know about this Sugar Paper planner at Target ($9) and now I’m all sorts of happy and ready to take on the year {*gasp* 2015}.

Day 19 Top Instagram Photos

Day 15 The Book Reveal: War Brides by Helen Bryan

War Brides by Helen Bryan {Goodreads}

Yay! We finally have a book for our first book club! To read the “official” synopsis, simply click the picture and it’ll take you to my profile on Goodreads. I’ve read some of the reviews and they look pretty good.

I’m definitely looking forward to the reading and the discussions. I’ve had a fascination with war brides and, to be honest, the whole era between World War I and World War II since I was a teenager. I think it’s because it seemed like a such a study in contrasts ~ women were expected to be delicate and feminine, yet they had to hold down practically the entire nation while still staying in their places. Then you had the undercurrents of race issues ~ African American soldiers fighting for freedoms that they didn’t yet have in their own country. And, to be honest, Danielle Steel may have played a small role in my romanticizing of the period

Are you a fan of this era? Whether you are or not, I hope you’ll join me on Facebook for the reading and discussion.

So here’s the plan: we’ll start reading the book during the first week of January and discuss throughout the entire month. I’ll post questions and, hopefully, you’ll post questions and we’ll have a nice discussion. This is is my first time doing this, so there’s going to be a learning curve but I hope this’ll be fun!
