I hope you had a nice weekend. We didn’t do much. We’re still trying to figure out our lives in this post-pandemic world. We ate breakfast in a restaurant for the first time in over a year. Just before everything shut down, The Hubs started having breakfast at a local bakery and he kept wanting me to come along but my schedule never really allowed it. We were finally able to go on Saturday and everything was just as he described. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant. It did feel a bit odd though, sitting in that space unmasked. I ended up leaving with two of the most beautiful little cheesecakes: chocolate and strawberry. They were delicious!
This wasn’t my first time in a restaurant, I went out to dinner with my daughter and her boyfriend for Mother’s Day and it was incredibly nice but weird with the masking mandates in plates. At that time, you had to wear a mask while in the restaurant but could remove it to eat, but then it had to be put back on. Not gonna lie, that made very little sense to me. But I was and am fully vaccinated, so…
ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART
Welcome to Style Imitating Art. Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. INSPIRATION ART WORK
Heather, Sweet Peas and Butterfly. Anonymous. 19th Century watercolor.
I chose this piece because I adore butterflies. I even have a butterfly tattoo… But I haven’t seen any lately. I wonder if it’s the weather — we’ve had rain for weeks, with a only a few breaks in between. Or if it’s something else? I mean, it could be the wrong season too?
MY OUTFIT
I found this dress at Target a few years back and it has become one of my favorite tunics. I love the muted colors, the layers, and even the feel of the woven fabric. The length is probably the only thing I don’t like about it. While standing, the length is fine, but if I have to sit or kneel, things can get a little uncomfortable, which is why I wear this dress as a tunic. Well, that and my undying love for dresses over jeans/pants.
The reason I chose this outfit for this week’s Style Imitating Art is because I thought the colors complemented the inspiration image – the dusky tones, the florals, the softness. Everything just fits, even though it’s not at all an exact match.
