Join Us for Style Imitating Art {living outside the stacks}

Hi, this is just a short post to introduce next week’s Style Imitating Art inspiration piece. Style Imitating Art {aka SIA} is hosted by Jen {Librarian for Life and Style}, Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, and me. Every other Monday, one of us curates an art piece to use as style inspiration for the following week {host outfits are posted on the following Monday, with participant outfits posted on Wednesday}.

Freja Fashion Plate

The inspiration piece is an illustarted Scandinavian fashion plate from 1886. The illustration was published in Freja, a fashion magazine on 1 August 1886.

You can learn more about the image by clicking here.

This week’s inspiration piece was curated by Jen from Librarian for Life and Style. Jen selected this piece because she “…loves the colors, the hats, and the variety of patterns and colors and textures when you look close. For me, the feeling and colors capture this time of the year. The scene also depicts family and/or friends, which feels appropriate as we look toward Thanksgiving in the U.S. next week.” I totally agree!

What do you think you’ll wear? I can’t wait to see!

Everyone’s invited to participate! Send a picture of your Style Imitating Art inspired outfit to Jen at by 10 PM Pacific Central Time Tuesday, 20 November. She’ll share the submissions on her blog on Wednesday, 21 November.

You don’t have to be a blogger, a photographer, or an instagrammer to join! You just have to love clothes.

Now go play in your closet,
