As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Orange Embroidered Top Jeans and Clogs {living outside the stacks}

Welcome to Style Imitating Art. Last week I wrote about completing my first photo shoot, wellllll, you can see some of the pictures here, here, and here. As a result of those images, I was asked to do another birthday shoot for another individual. I’m feeling both the excitement and the pressure. I shoot for my college and I totally enjoy it, but those images are different {you can see some of them here and here}. When you shoot stylized shots, you have to be aware of everything. When I shoot for the college, I work with what I have — I find that a lot more liberating. But I’m up for the challenge.

ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Terri {Meadow Tree Style}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. Participants submit their art inspired outfits with the curator by 10 PM Tuesday and, that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

THE CURATOR

This week’s image was chosen by Salazar. She chose it because “…chose it for its colors, textures, and patterns (especially that gingham dress); besides, any painting that features a cute pet is a plus for me.”

MY OUTFIT

Orange Embroidered Top Jeans and Clogs {living outside the stacks}

I put this look together for so many reasons: LOOK AT THAT EMBROIDERY. Y’all know I’m a big fan of embroidery. I love it on everything. It just gives pieces a handmade, folkloric, boho feel. Even when it’s mass produced. But embroidery and Swiss Dots? Be still my heart. I’ve never been a big fan of chiffon type material, but when I saw this top online I had to have it. In fact, I texted a picture of it to my sister so she could talk me down. Especially because of the floofy shoulders. But no. She was no help. “It’s so you!” So now it’s on me.

The step hem jeans are a closet staple for me in the warmer months. I like the distressed and overly worn look and feel that they have. Sadly, this may be my last time wearing them. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight and they kept falling down. So now I have to hunt for a pair as equally cute and worn as those. I think I’ve had those jeans for about 6 years now. It’s a sad parting but I’m happy for the reason.

Clogs are life. I don’t care what anyone says. Clogs are so freaking versatile and cute. You can wear them with pants, skirts, dresses, shorts, everything. Maybe I should write a post about my clog love?

Looking back, this outfit could’ve worked for this post as well. I mean, this inspiration piece has so many options from color to texture to pattern. Do you see it?

Is there a clothing detail that just draws you to it no matter what? Do you have a clothing turn off? I’d love to know, leave a comment below.
