Style Imitating Art: The Pool at Jas de Bouffan by Paul Cézanne
As the blogger and photographer behind Living Outside the Stacks, I independently select and write about stuff I love and things I think you’ll enjoy too. Living Outside the Stacks has affiliate and advertising partnerships so I get revenue from sharing this content and from your purchase. Thank you for your support.
time. We also did a little dreaming and took a few tours of some RVs. The Hubs and I want to get a driver and live it in for a couple months out of the year. RVing is so incredibly relaxing. Have you ever camped in one?
ABOUT STYLE IMITATING ART
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}, Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art inspired outfits. And that Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.
THE CURATOR
This week’s image was chosen by me.
INSPIRATION ART WORK
The Pool at Jas de Bouffan by Paul Cézanne
I chose this image because it’s outside and it’s calming and pretty.
STYLING IDEAS
There are so many options here: pastels, neutrals, bright colors, and muted colors. You can also play up textures with cottons, silks, and linens. What ideas do you have? Please share in the comments.
MY OUTFIT
First of all, can I tell you how excited I am to see my grays popping? I quit dying my hair mooooonths ago and I’ve been waiting {im}patiently to join the #SilverSisters. So, yay!
Now to the outfit, I chose this because blue and floral. I mean, what could be more outdoorsy than this? I’ve owned this denim shirt forever, but I rarely wear it. I, like most busty women, have a hard time with button front tops. But I finally found a minimizer that works, so I decided to give this shirt a try.
And, well, I’ve been a fan of Pixie Pants since I discovered them a few years back. I like Pixie Pants because they’re dressy but the spandex in them make them comfortable. Usually, when I wear work pants, I tear them off as soon as I walk through the door, I keep my Pixie Pants on until I’m ready for bed. Yeah, they’re that comfortable.
THE CO-HOSTS
Make sure you stop by and visit my co-hosts at 14 Shades of Grey, and Fierce Fashion Blog. You’ll definitely want to see their interpretations as well. Make sure you come back on Wednesday to see the other participants’ outfits.
Salazar {14 Shades of Grey}
Salazar wrote that she “…picked pieces with textures and colors that remind me of the painting.” I think she did a great job. The colors are absolutely perfect. And, as always, that brooch is on point.
Kim {Fierce Fashion Blog}
Kim is celebrating her birthday so stop by her blog and wish her a Happy 60th!!
